

Raquel I. Martinez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 93 in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on February 6, 1932, to Isaias Infante and Viviana Salinas.
Raquel is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Tomas D. Martinez. Their life together was a testament to enduring love, faith, and the strength of family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Minerva Peralez, Maria Estella Martinez, Mario Martinez, Tomas Martinez Jr., Melba Martinez Evans, Miroslava Martinez, Magdalena De La Cruz (Roberto), and Marcos Martinez (Manuela). Raquel was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, deeply proud of the family she helped nurture and guide through the years.
She is also survived by her sister, Maria Lopez.
Raquel is preceded in death by her parents; her cherished child, Margarita Martinez; and her siblings: Gregoria Segura, Paula Vasquez, Hilaria Rodriguez, Isaias Infante Jr., Juan Infante, Noe Infante, and Delia Ramos.
Raquel had a deep love for gardening, singing, cooking, and baking. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of frijoles, mole, fresh bread, tortillas, and tamales. Her food brought joy to all who gathered at her table, and her warmth and generosity were felt by everyone she met.
A woman of strong faith, Raquel's devotion to her beliefs was evident in the way she lived her life — with kindness, humility, and love. Most of all, she cherished her family and the moments spent surrounded by them.
Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
