Roman Garza Jr., a man known for his infectious humor and larger-than-life charisma, passed away on February 13, 2026 at the age of 69. Roman had a gift for making people smile; he was rarely serious and always quick with a joke, bringing warmth and laughter wherever he went. Affectionate and deeply devoted to those he loved, he cherished his family above all else and created countless memories filled with joy, music, and movie nights.
A proud computer enthusiast, Roman embraced his inner “nerd” and loved exploring technology as much as he loved classic westerns—the stories, the soundtracks, and the timeless characters. Whether he was sharing his favorite films, talking about music, or simply spending time with the people he loved most, Roman’s presence was magnetic and unforgettable.
He will be remembered for his humor, his big heart, and the way he made everyone around him feel welcomed and valued. Roman’s spirit lives on in the laughter he inspired, the love he gave freely, and the family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Roman was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Leonor Garza; and his brother Omar Jose Garza.
He is survived by his wife Monica M. Garza; his children Monica E. Garza, Ashlee Garza and Brandyn Roman Garza; his grandchildren Andrew Loera and Evan Loera; and by his siblings Nora Cavazos and Abraham Garza.
Visitation will be held on Wednesdays, February 18, 2026 at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 19, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
