He was born to Bruce and Ruth Mecker in New Jersey and grew up in Southern California where his family relocated. He attended La Habra High School and Fullerton College. His career spanned forty-eight years in the electronics industry where he specialized in PCB design with responsibility as an engineering manager.
He was an avid surfer, well known on the beaches of Orange County, and traveled the world in search of waves. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, camping, and hiking; and spent a great deal of time on his ranch. He loved animals, often participated in their rescue, and enjoyed the company of his dogs and cats. Don cared a great deal about his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Shannon and her husband Sean, his grandsons Declan and Finnegan, his sister Janice and her husband Dave, his sister Peggy and her husband Dennis, and his brother Chris and his fiancée Merilee. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Don is forever young and will be missed by all.
