She was born August 26, 1928, in Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland, a daughter of Bernard Charles (aka BC Fay) and Catherine O’Reilly Fay. She lived in Ireland her whole life until a holiday trip to the United States led to a chance meeting of a handsome Irishman named Charlie, her future husband, in Los Angeles, California. She never went home from that holiday. They married on July 19 of that year and raised their family in Southern California in the decades to follow.
Eithne was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles Michael O’Neill and brothers Eamon and Brien and sisters May, Philomena and Kathleen and great grandson Joshua Nice.
She was a member at St. Killian’s Catholic Church of Mission Viejo and a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is a lady of great faith and devoted to her Lord and Savior in prayer and action. She enjoyed classic movies, the Hallmark Channel, roses in her garden and baking in her kitchen. She loved everything Irish, from a traditional meal in an authentic Irish pub, to Irish dance, Irish festivals and fairs, plus cheering on the Notre Dame fighting Irish football team and various Irish golfers on the PGA tour. She thoroughly loved the music of Celtic Thunder and her favorite singer, Emmett Cahill. Her greatest joys were her moments with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family gatherings of any kind were truly her fondest memories.
Eithne is survived by three sons and two daughter in-laws, Brian Charles O’Neill (Jacqueline), Kevin Michael O’Neill, and Donald Patrick O’Neill (Nancy); two daughters and one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Mary O’Neill (Rebecca) and Sheila Maeve DeCoursey; eight grandchildren and three grandsons in-law and a granddaughter in-law; Matthew (Crista), Caitlin (Blair), Meghan (William), Holly, Nicole (Zander), Jason, Benjamin and Devin; and eight great grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, Isabella, Madeline, Hyde, Elizabeth, Cillian and Owsley.
