He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Annet, his son Chris; his daughter Nannette; his step-son Mark and grandchildren Christopher, Christian, Eva, and Noa; and his sister, Barbara.
Born (1936) and raised in Joplin, Missouri to LaVern Cornell and Olive Mae (Marcus) Cornell, James was the oldest of four children. He moved to California after high school to attend the University of Southern California. Eventually graduating with an engineering degree from Long Beach State University, He also received his Master's degree from Pepperdine University.
After meeting and marrying his wife Annet, the couple settled down in Orange County California.
During his time as an Aerospace Engineer, Jim worked for some of the biggest names in the business. McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, is where he eventually retired. Following his retirement, James took on a teaching position with Orange Coast College and the University of Phoenix. James was an elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
James was full of life and never let any of his disabilities hold him back. Having been diagnosed at the age of 50 with type 2 diabetes, he continually amazed his Dr’s. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. James taught his children the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. He took great pleasure in spending time with family and attending his church.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support they have received from everyone during this difficult time.
