On June 14, 2023, Mrs. Joanne Rae Rennie departed our natural earthly presence. By the mercy of God, she will reside in her new home, His heavenly place of peace and homecoming. At the age of 88 years old, Mrs. Rennie, known as Joni to family and friends, passed away in her sleep. While her last days were afflicted with Alzheimer’s, her spirit remained strong as her smiles and expressions uplifted those around her.
Born in the Midwest, she was raised by her “angelic” mother, Alice. Along with her two adored sisters, Jeannine and Jackie, she had an austere, yet loving childhood. Alice was her rock and her sisters were her comforters. They all preceded her in death as Joni missed them dearly.
At the age of 23, she married her beloved husband, Richard Rennie. He was a Marine and honorable man who brought her joy, peace and love. As a couple, they started their journey together, bonding through life’s tribulations and accomplishments. After Richard’s early passing at 55 years of age, she remained in love and now looks forward to their sacred reunification.
Joni had three children who are honored to carry her legacy. Kristin, Jill and Kent laugh and reconcile their beautiful memories of her. Her children hope to model her character, making her proud. Joni was known as Granny to her “precious” grandchildren: Albert, Rachael, Lewis, and Mckenna. She loved them immensely and was instrumental in all their lives.
She treasured her family, fully embracing her purpose as adored wife and nurturing mother. Nothing was more important than her family’s well-being and fulfillment. Joni’s family life was full as wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and loved in-law.
Joni lived in Orange County, California for over 60 years, raising a family when orange groves and strawberry fields held the landscape. She cherished Orange County and was especially fond of its simple charm, warm lifestyle, and beaches. Orange County was home. It is here where she was blessed with a nucleus of deep, longstanding friends. It is off the OC coast where Joni’s ashes will be scattered.
Whether it was taking care of her elder in-laws, nursing her convalescing husband, championing her grandchildren, managing corporate payrolls, or preserving historic antiques; her actions were altruistic and from a pure heart. In final, it can be simply said of Joni: “a job well done, good and faithful servant”.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.fairhavenmemorialservices.com for the Rennie family.
