

Lawrence “Larry” Kellerman, 79, passed away on July 29, 2025. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA, on August 18, 2025, at 10am. Born in Detroit, MI, and raised in Sherman Oaks and Brea, CA. Larry graduated from Cal State Los Angeles in 1969, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He later earned his M.B.A. from Cal State Fullerton in 1975. Larry was married to Christine Lyn Colcord from 2006 until his death. Together they enjoyed a second home in Ensenada, MX; took numerous road trips on both the West and East Coasts; fished in Alaska and Canada; held season tickets to see Broadway plays at OCPA; and had dinner parties with numerous loved ones.
Upon graduation, Larry earned his Professional Engineer License, was then hired as a Civil Engineer by California Dept. of Transportation, where he worked for 34 years. He was promoted to Sr. Transportation Engineer and managed a large department for most of his career. Larry also worked 5 yrs. at Salkin Engineering. He received letters of appreciation from the Mayor of Newport Beach, he was often a speaker at Public Hearings and on TV, and his team completed many important construction projects. He remained lifelong friends with many fellow CalTrans employees.
Larry was an avid fisherman, with a keen knowledge of boat and engine maintenance, navigation, current fishing conditions, and fishing equipment. He won 4 fishing tournaments. He also greatly enjoyed going camping with his 4-wheel drive group. Larry was the Off-Road Trail Leader, who was responsible for navigation on desert trails. He like to target shot and go hunting for birds. Larry was an avid reader of Baja MX adventure books.
Larry was the son of the late Ludwig Kellerman and Lorraine Hafeli Kellerman of Capistrano Beach, CA. He is survived by: two brothers, Mark Kellerman and his wife Christine of Escondido; Tom Kellerman of Morro Bay, CA; and his sister Kathleen Kellerman of Tucson AZ. He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews, and 22 grand nieces and nephews.
