Michael John Wasko Jr.

USMC Lt. Col, Retired Michael John Wasko, Jr. of Mission Viejo, CA passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 peacefully with his son Michael at his side. Michael was born 6/1/1938 in Coatesville, PA to Michael and Amelia (Yankech) Wasko. He grew up and attended area schools in Coatesville. Following his education, Michael joined the United States Marine Corps where he served his country honorably as a pilot flying both jets (F-4 Phantom with VMFA-122) and helicopters (CH-53) completing 3 tours in Vietnam. Michael was awarded the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Navy Commendation Defense Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal as well as numerous other recognition medals.

During his time in the Philippines, Michael met the love of his life Isabel Veloso. The couple later married. Together they celebrated over 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2007.

Michael later met Jane, whom he married in 2015.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; his daughter Denise Wasko; three sons, Michael (and his wife, Alexandra), Kevin Wasko and Brian Wasko; and his one grandchild whom he adored, Mysterie Pena.

Michael will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at Ascension Cemetery, 24754 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630 on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM alongside his first wife Isabel.
