Myunghee Kim Lee (김명희) was born on July 9th, 1956 in Busan, South Korea to Kwang Cho Kim and Eui Je Lee. She received her B.A. in French Literature with a minor in Psychology from Ewha University in Seoul, South Korea in 1979.
In 1983, Myunghee met Hyun Lee, and the two were married on January 9th, 1984 in Seoul. They then moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania, where they were blessed with two daughters, Sue and Jean Lee. Myunghee had a passion for music and a dedication to her faith. While living in Pennsylvania, she played the piano and organ and sang for her church choir, and passed on this love of both music and Christ to her family.
In 2000, Myunghee moved with her family to Southern California. Here, she started a small piano school, taught English to Korean elementary school students, hosted a Bible study group, and joined an Ewha University alumni group through which she reconnected with many friends from college.
Myunghee loved art, the beach, travelling, singing, helping others, and was known for her kind spirit and her love for her family. In the last four and a half years of her life, she displayed great strength and courage throughout multiple health challenges. Through her faith and perseverance, she encouraged everyone around her, and reminded them of God’s presence and love.
Myunghee is survived by her husband, Hyun Lee, her 2 daughters, Sue and Jean, her son-in-law, Christopher Yu, and her 3 siblings, Myungsuk Kim, Myungun Kim, and Myungso Kim. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed until we see her again in heaven.
