Yee Rong was born to parents 余壽彭 and 余王月真 on January 24th, 1922 in Beijing, China. At age 24, she began a long teaching career, first teaching French in high schools in Beijing. In 1948, she married, graduated from Beijing University with a Bachelor of Foreign Language Art, and relocated to Taipei, Taiwan. She taught French and Chinese in high schools in Kaohsong, and then Chinese in middle schools in Taipei until her retirement in 1987, when they immigrated to the United States of America, where she became a naturalized citizen. Yee Rong was respected and loved by her students who exchanged correspondence- some visited her in the US.
A life-long learner, she loved reading books and newspapers, and stayed current with world affairs. She was loving, kind-hearted, well-tempered, brave, independent and, most distinctly, encouraging to others. Family and friends will miss her amazing recall and sharp mind, possessed right until her passing.
There will be a small service for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Kidney Fund.
