

Aug. 15, 1932 - April 27, 2017 A. Gordon Kenny, born Aug. 15, 1932, the seventh of eight children to James A. (Mabel Duff) Kenny. On Jan. 3, 1955, he married Marie Virginia Tellier, he considered her the "most Marvelous friend and person ever" and felt blessed that the good Lord gave them each other. They meet on a blind date and shared 61 years of marriage. His education consisted of St. Vincent de Paul Grammar School, McGill Institute, Spring Hill College, Toolen Institute of Pastoral Services and three years in diaconate education. Past Grand President of Knights of Columbus #8740. Past President of Mobile Kiwanis Club, Past President of St Pius X Parish Council and ST Pius X School PTA, Vice President St Dominic Parish Council, Past President Community of Deacons of the Archdiocese of Mobile. Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree. Ordained Permanent Deacon on April 23, 1994 by Arch Bishop Oscar H Lipscomb, DD. CCD Teacher for eight years at Little Flower, Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Lourdes. A World Traveler of 14 Countries, 37 States and 13 Caribbean Islands. He served his country in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1950-1952 in the Korean War. Preceded in death by his wife, Marie Virginia Tellier Kenny, parents Mr. James Aloysius Kenny & Mable Cecilia Duff Kenny. Brothers: James Aloysius Kenny, Mary Cecilia Kenny, John (Jack) Patrick Kenny, Robert Joseph Kenny, Donald Vincent Kenny and sister Mary Cecilia Kenny. Survivors include his children Anne Marie Kenny (William) Long, Joseph Gordon (Shannon) Kenny, Mary Katherine (Dan) Borcicky, Mark Oliver (Lora) Kenny and David Michael (Laurie) Kenny. Brother: Charles Henry Kenny and sister Theresa Marie Dezenberg. Thirteen loving grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 9am – 11am Tuesday, May 2 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 6300 McKenna Dr. Mobile, AL. with Funeral Mass Tuesday at 11am with Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi Celebrant; Father Francis Sofie to officiate Con-Celebrate Mass. Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to suggest in lieu of flowers, donations to the Burse Club.
