Mrs. Alice Scott Franklin of Saraland, AL, passed away June 29, 2016 at the age of 69 after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Born Alice Marie Scott on July 28, 1946 in Foley, AL, she was the oldest of five children and of 28 grandchildren. Raised along the Gulf Coast everywhere from Port Arthur, TX to Baldwin County, it was during her time in Brewton, AL that she met the love of her life, Terry Franklin. After courting throughout her teenage years, they married on July 31, 1964. Six years later, they welcomed their only child, Wayne. Though she was unable to have more children, her mother’s heart meant their home was always open. And her artist’s soul meant the walls of that home were always decorated with works of her own creation. She is remembered by everyone she touched as one of the kindest, bravest, most generous, most loving people they ever met. She truly was inspiration to all. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Monroe and Elsie Daisy Scott, and her sister Elsie Lois Scott. She is survived by her husband, Terry Franklin, son, Wayne Franklin (Kelli), grandchildren, Savannah and Cooper, sisters, Ellen Scott, Martha Rhodes (James) and H. A. Scott (Sean Kearns), brother, Tom Scott (Diane), many nieces and nephews who viewed her as a second mother, and countless other friends and family members. Services are set for Saturday, July 2 at Community of Christ Church on Azalea Road in Mobile, with visitation at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. Graveside service is set for 3 p.m. at Beulah Cemetery in Brewton. In lieu of, or in addition to flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Christian School. P. O. Box 1743, Pelham, AL 35124. Write “Alice Franklin Memorial” in the memo line.
