

Andrew “Jack” Howell - Born February 28, 1928; a native of Choctaw Bluff, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 64 years, died Friday, January 22, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell D. Howell, of 57 years and his parents, A.J. and Jessie Mae Howell. Survivors include four children: Marilyn Howell of Mobile, AL, Jennifer Knox of Parker, TX, Jackie Poché of Fairhope, AL, and Michael Howell of Mobile, AL; grandchildren Michael (Laurie) Hoyt, John Knox (Stormie Placke, fiancé), David Knox, Danielle Poché, MariKate (Michael) Wilson, Michael Howell, Jr., and Rachael; great grandchildren Michael, Jr. and Kaitlyn Hoyt and Amos Wilson; sister Faye (William) Harper, Jackson, AL.
He was a faithful member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, Deacon, Sunday School, and the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group. He retired from the AL Power Company Sales. His joy came from the Lord, his family, and his friends. Jack never met a stranger. He was well known for his firm hand shake. If he met you, he remembered you. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, purple martins, singing, and most of all, visiting with friends and family over a cup of coffee. He was involved as a volunteer with the SW AL Regional School for more than 30 years as well as being an active member of the Energizers.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, Monday, January 25, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Mr. Howell will lie in state Tuesday at Dauphin Way Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service hour. Interment will follow at Pine Crest West, Snow Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dauphin Way Baptist Church or SW AL Regional School, 3980 Burma Road, Mobile, 36693.
