Anto was born to Zrino Kresevljak and Manda Marijic Kresevljak on February 9, 1963, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He spent much of his childhood riding bikes and playing soccer with friends – the latter of which he continued a love for throughout his life. Anto loved playing soccer, even into his later years, and with players half his age. When he couldn’t play anymore, he became a coach. After coaching, Anto became a referee for Middle and High School soccer games in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
When Anto was a child, he also developed a love for pigeons. When he and his brother, Slavko, were young, they kept pigeons as pets. Anto had quite a few in his pigeon coup in his backyard, and eventually started pigeon racing with locals in the Mobile area.
Anto was a man of integrity and was friends with people of many faiths. He always felt one should only judge a person solely on his or her character and respected and valued his fellow man. Anto was a generous and kind soul who would help anyone who was ever in need.
Anto would consider his greatest accomplishment in life his 40 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Mara Kresevljak, and raising his two sons. He made it his life’s work to provide everything he could for his family. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
Anto was preceded in death by his parents, Zrino and Manda Kresevljak; his younger brother, Slavko Kresevljak; and half-brother, Ivan Kresevljak.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mara Nikolic Kresevljak; two sons, Goran Kresevljak (Joni) and Boris Kresevljak; step-granddaughter, Ivy Bufkin; sister, Vesna Petrusic (Stipica); sister-in-law, Olivera Kresevljak; nephews, Mario Kresevljak, Karlo Kresevljak (and his family), and Martin Petrusic; his extended family: Kresevljak, Marijic, Pandza, Rajic, and Nikolic; as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
Visitation for Anto will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West.
