Arnell DuBose, age 87, passed away on October 1, 2015. He was a native of Jackson, Alabama and a long-time resident of Mobile, and was retired from International Paper Co., corporate financial systems and procedures. He was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church where he served for several years as an usher. Arnell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was also active for many years in the Mobile County Republican Party, including service on the executive committee. Arnell was preceded in death by his parents, Leo DuBose and Mattie Emma DuBose, his sister, Marguerite Deyo, and his brothers, Earl DuBose and Fred DuBose, and by his first wife, Mary Prince DuBose. Arnell is survived by his wife, Hannelore DuBose of Mobile, his son, Victor Arnell DuBose (Ruth) of Daphne, his daugher, Lori DuBose Guy (Henry) of Fairhope, his stepdaughters, Paula Levi and Jane Cazalas, both of Mobile, his stepson, Kurt Miller of Berkeley, California, and his sister, Betty Coleman (Bert) of Grove Hill. He is also survived by his grandsons, Robert DuBose Leff of Auburn, and Riley Prince Leff of Fairhope, and his stepgrandchildren, Jason VanLandingham of Mobile, Joshua VanLandingham of Marysville, Ohio, Jeremy Leff of Auburn, Jennifer Tobias and Jessica Salvo, both of Tallahassee, Florida, Kristen Dzwonkowski of Mobile, Chelsea Levi of Jackson, Mississippi, and Jimmy Haynes, Jordan Cazalas, Gage Cazalas and Janie Cazalas, all of Mobile. He is also survived by other extended family members. Arnell was a graduate of Jackson High School, where he was recognized as an honorable mention, all-state football player, at offensive tackle, a legacy which has been continued by his grandson, Robert, who is an offensive lineman for the Auburn Tigers. Arnell was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and a member of the alumni association for nearly sixty years. For Arnell, the glass was always half-full, not half-empty, and as a gracious host, he filled your glass to the top. He never met a stranger, and was exceedingly kind to his family and friends, including “the group” of seven couples who have been great friends for over fifty years. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile, with visitation to precede the service from 2:30 p.m., until service time. The family would like to extend thanks to Arnell's caregivers and medical providers, including Dr. Kimberly Bryan and Gentiva Hospice.
