He was a 1948 graduate of Murphy High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk after more than 30 years of service and was the owner and operator of Park-a-Car, Inc. for a number of years. Mr. Cash was a long term member of St. Catherine's Parish and sang with the Cecilian Chorale and for weddings and funerals. He was an avid follower of Father Solanus Casey. Mr. Cash was known as the Candyman and Fiddler on the Roof in local plays.He was an athlete who played softball and coached basketball at St. Catherine's. In later years, Mr. Cash was a faithful member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cicero Cash and Emma Agnes O’Connor Cash; four brothers; three sisters; his first wife, Evelyn McDonald Cash; and his second wife, Barbara Ann Ardoyno Cash. Mr. Cash is survived by his four children, Rebecca Cash Root, Andrew Cash (Teresa) Julia Rutland Sims (Scott) , and Mark Cash; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Little Flower Catholic Church on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Charities Appeal, P.O. Box 230, Mobile, Alabama 36601.
