

Bernice Rowell Farnell who was born October 31, 1925 in Citronelle, Alabama went peacefully to her heavenly home on December 21, 2017 surrounded by her children. She was a wonderful, godly woman – a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was the best wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by many. Bernice graduated top of her class from Citronelle High School in 1943. She moved to Mobile to work at Delchamps where she worked for many years, stopping to raise a family, and later returning to work at Mobile Supply from where she retired. She was a faithful member at Zion Baptist Church where she served her Lord and always being the first to volunteer at her children’s school as a Room Mother and PTA President. She gave endlessly and unconditionally to family and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Marion Bancroft Farnell Sr., her parents Johnnie and Mattie Howard Rowell, twin sister Louise Bailey, grandson Logan Slade Farnell, and twin great-grandsons, Maverick Reese and Evan Scott Farnell.
She is survived by her five children, Marion Bancroft Farnell Jr. (Dinah), John Dwight Farnell (Daphne), Cynthia Sue Farnell Williams (Tommy), Aldon Reese Farnell (Renee), and Angela Renee Farnell McElhenney (Doug); grandchildren, Joy LaLiberte (Rob), Amber Bosarge (Randy), John Dwight Farnell Jr. (Tracy), Madison Lee Farnell, Thomas Alford Williams IV, Whitney Williams Cannedy (Matthew), Blakeley Shay Williams, Marisa Hansert (Jonathan), Christopher Farnell (Paige), Matthew McElhenney, Ryan McElhenney (Melanie), and Haley McElhenney Kendrick (Levi); great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Chris, Mckenna, and Madelyn LaLiberte, Kenzleigh and Raelynn Bosarge, Isaiah, Gabrielle, and Jeremiah Farnell, Scarlett, Willa, and Avonlea Cannedy, Analeigh and Jayce Kendrick, and Hagan McElhenney; three sisters, Evelyn Burch, Annette Knight, and Johnnie Willisson (Sonny); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the very many of you that kept Mom in their prayers over the years. Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
