Bertie Storey Cox ("Bea") Hurd died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Crowne Health Care in Mobile, where she had resided for several years. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Hurd was born in Gattman, Mississippi and grew up in various locations in north Alabama. She graduated from Gadsden High School and Massey Business School in Birmingham. She was married to James Fulton Hurd from 1940 until his death in 2005. She had lived in Mobile since 1951, and was a member of Ashland Place United Methodist Church, where she once taught Sunday School. Mrs. Hurd is survived by her son, James F. Hurd, Jr. and his wife Diane, her son, William H. Hurd and his wife Reta, her daughter, Anne Elizabeth Hurd Atkinson and her husband Rod, all of whom live in Virginia. She had eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
