Betty Elizabeth Hammond

Betty was born December 4, 1932 in Panama City, FL, the daughter of Lester Hickman Childs and Rachel Hodges Childs of Niceville, FL. Betty graduated from Niceville High School and attended Huntington College where she met and married Charles Hammond on November 13, 1954. Betty enjoyed traveling with Charles on his business trips, cooking, sewing and being a homemaker. She retired from Eureka Vacuum.

Betty was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Mobile. She sang in the Choir, was an active member of the Reading Group and served on many committees.

In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles H. Hammond, Jr., her brother, Lester Childs, Jr. and her son, Charlie H. Hammond III.

Survivors include her daughter, Betsy Hammond Wilson of Carrollton, GA: grandchildren, Christopher Hammond of Warren, OH, Kether Wilson, Micah Wilson and Rachel Wilson of Carrollton, GA. And several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11AM to 11:45 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Pine Crest Cemetery and the Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
