Brian Rowell Bailey, age 62, of Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with Jesus on the morning of February 10. Brian trusted and loved the Lord throughout his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace in Heaven.
Brian was a devoted husband of 43 years, a loving father and Pawpaw, a loyal friend, and a man of unwavering integrity. He had countless best friends and a buddy for everything. The outpouring of love from his friends and community is a testament to how deeply he was known and loved.
Brian loved the outdoors and treasured time spent deer hunting and deep sea fishing with his family, especially his son. He was a passionate angler who competed on many fishing teams, but more importantly, he used time on the water to mentor young people—teaching life skills, integrity, and balance. Many went on to become successful business owners and devoted family men, reflecting the values Brian modeled. He was honored to have served as an advisory board member of the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club. He also cherished time at his farm in Faunsdale, Alabama, where deer hunting with family brought him great joy.
Known to many as “Mr. Fix It,” Brian had a remarkable work ethic and a gift for fixing anything that was broken. One of his granddaughter’s first phrases was, “Pawpaw, fix it,” a simple reflection of who he was. Brian was the fun parent and grandparent—the one who always showed up and made life lighter simply by being there.
Alongside his brother Evan, Brian partnered in Bailey’s TV, the family-operated business started by their parents. Together, they carried on a legacy that will celebrate its 75th anniversary next year. Brian ran the business with honesty and loyalty, and his customers would agree he was the very best at what he did.
Brian also loved sports. He was an avid Alabama football fan, and during his cancer journey he became a loyal Duke basketball supporter, inspired by his doctor at Duke.
After being diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer, Brian fought a courageous 15-month battle with strength, hope, and faith. He exceeded expectations and endured extensive treatment and travel, including repeated trips to Duke University and journeys to Germany. He was faithfully supported throughout by his devoted wife Judy, his sister Marilyn, his brother-in-law Richard, and many others who walked closely beside him. Even as his health declined, his faith never wavered.
Brian was born in Mobile, Alabama, to Henry and Louise Bailey and was one of six children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Collier Bailey; his children Brian Bailey (Holly), Brooke Stone (Grant), and Jordan Goldstein (Kyle); and his grandchildren June (10), Henry (8), Brian III (7), Ben (5), Mary (4), and Sonny (1). He is also survived by his siblings Marilyn Bruette, Neal Bailey, Gwen Coover, and Evan Bailey.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, where Brian’s children attended school and where the family has been devoted members for many years. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be a celebration of Brian’s life, faith, and legacy.
Sixty-two is far too young to say goodbye. Yet Brian’s life was full, his love was evident, and his legacy will live on.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
