October 20, 2023 – October 22, 2023
Life cannot be measured by time, but rather is measured by the depth to which a soul pursues its spiritual purpose of serving humanity by extending unconditional love to each and every living being encountered. To what extent did this soul achieve inner growth and what influence did it have upon others? ~ Leo Tolstoy
Brodie Charles “Charlie” McVea transitioned to Heaven in the early morning of October 22, 2023 while resting peacefully in his parents’ arms at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. He was born on the evening of October 20, 2023 weighing 5 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches. Affectionately known as “Baby Charlie,” he brought incredible and everlasting joy to his loved ones and caregivers during his short, beautiful life which he spent comfortably nestled in the arms of his family and wrapped in love and laughter. He had full cheeks, deep blue eyes, and a head full of soft brown hair with auburn highlights. His infectious smile lit up the room. His spirit was strong. His voice would grab your attention. It was not a cry but a sudden burst of resounding joy. His deep blue eyes were captivating as if you were staring into the deepest ocean with darkest blue water you had ever seen. He made a lasting impact on each person he met. Each encounter was very specific in purpose. His personality was that of an old man. His expressions were quite stoic as if he knew something no one else did. On his terms upon the completion of God’s purpose, he departed this world as peacefully as he entered it leaving us with only a physical reminder of his beautiful smile seemingly telling us that he was happy, at peace, and fulfilled in his time with us. He gave each and every person he encountered the unconditional love we all seek and made time stand still for the thirty (30) hours he was with us. In what felt so short in time, he somehow made feel like a lifetime. To experience him was to know him.
Charlie is the beloved son of Elsa Jeanne and William Charles “Charlie” McVea of Mobile and cherished baby brother to Elsa Mignon “Emma” McVea and Molly Quinn McVea. In addition to his parents and sisters, he is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McVea, Jr. of Moss Point, Mississippi, Mrs. Elsa Brodie Norwood of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Phillips of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
