

Buddie Allen Lavelle, 60, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida. Buddie was born to Ada Catherine and James Lavelle on February 1, 1958, and grew up in the Mobile/Alabama port area. Buddie was also known as “Buddie Allen” and “Buddie Buffett”. He was a well-known singer in the South, beginning his musical career with playing on Dauphin Island in Alabama, and playing as far out as Bettendorf, Iowa. Buddie opened for bands such as Shenandoah. Buddie Allen and the Fishstix (Buddie’s band), became “Son of a Sailor”, which was a National act. Son of a Sailor was one of the most famous bands in the mid 1990’s and into the 2000’s, playing 15 to 25 shows a week in multiple venues in Pensacola, as well as casinos on the Gulf Coast, and Ship Island.
Buddie was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Lavelle; his parents, James and Ada Catherine Lavelle; sister, Paulette Lavelle; and brother, George Burns.
He is survived by his son, Dewayne Lavelle (Melissa); four grandchildren, Palmer, Maddox, Preston, and Charlotte Lavelle; and one brother, Woody Lavelle.
Buddie was an immense presence who was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
