

Caroline "Candy" Dunning Murphy, age 73, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 8, 1952, Candy was a resident of Mobile, Alabama. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a lifelong interior designer.
Candy was preceded in death by her parents Frank Edward Dunning and Caroline Surré Dunning and by her beloved husband, John Patrick Murphy, whose memory she carried with her always. She is survived by her children: Caroline Murphy Cunningham (Jack), John Dunning Murphy, and Duncan Edward Murphy (Bianca); 3 grandchildren Frances Cunningham, Russell Cunningham, and Ann Dunning Murphy; 3 siblings David Dunning (Margaret), Debbie Liipfert (James), and Peter Dunning (Barbara); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Known for her quick wit, generous spirit, and unmistakable sense of humor, Candy touched the lives of all who knew her. Whether through a thoughtful gesture or a perfectly timed laugh, she made others feel loved and cared for.
A service will be held by the family to honor and celebrate her life on May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with visitation to follow. A livestream link will be available to those who can't be in attendance.
