On Monday June 10th, 2024 our beloved Carolyn (Carol) Angstreich Zimmerman passed away in the early hours of the morning. Carol, born in Neptune, New Jersey, has resided in the Fairhope/Mobile area for over 55 years. It is here, she and her husband Steven Zimmerman, raised three wonderful children, and made many lifelong friends.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and hospitality. Any holiday, event, or celebration she delighted in bringing people together, up until the very end. Even to those who she had not known for long, she would never hesitate to open her door and prepare a seat at her table.
Family was of the utmost importance to Carol. A true matriarch, she did all she could to be there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No matter when or where, she was always there to celebrate each of their accomplishments and milestones.
While family was always her highest priority, she had an adventurous side that lead her to travel the world. From photographing the jungles of Costa Rica to the ruins of Machu Picchu to creating our annual family tradition of swimming with the manatees in Crystal River, Florida. Carol had the opportunity to see and explore so many places.
A long-standing member of the Springhill Avenue Temple, Carol found solace and purpose in her faith, actively contributing to the vibrancy of the Jewish community. Her dedication and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Carol, we take comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the love that continues to resonate in our hearts. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit remains ever-present, guiding and inspiring us in our journey forward. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor of sharing in her life's journey.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Angstreich and Jean Schwartz Angstreich. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Dr. Steven Zimmerman; children, Stanley Zimmerman (Silvia), Robert Zimmerman (Dr. Ann Daves), and David Zimmerman, J.D. (Kimberly); grandchildren, Samantha Poeth (Jason), Dr. Arthur Zimmerman (Dr. Chelsea), Richard Zimmerman (Beth), and Elizabeth Zimmerman (fiancé, Wilks Hope); great-grandchildren, Samuel Zimmerman, Samson Poeth, Hazel Zimmerman, and Lydia Poeth; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held in Springhill Avenue Temple Cemetery on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Springhill Avenue Temple or the American Cancer Society.
May her memory forever be a blessing.
