A native Mobile resident and avid sailor from his youth, Cary graduated from Murphy High School, completed his undergraduate studies at Birmingham Southern College and earned his Masters Degree at Auburn University. Regardless of the institutions of higher learning he attended or where life took him, he was always and only a die hard fan of the Crimson Tide. Cary was a gifted pianist and vocalist, whose joyful spirit and keen sense of harmony made singing by his side at church a delight.
Cary is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 60 years, Charlotte Thomas March, his children Keller Halvorson (Hans), Melanie Tims (Michael) and Cary March (Michelle), and cherished grandchildren, Soren and John Halvorson, Henry and Cully Tims and Libby and Cary Thomas March.
Cary founded and ran March Real Estate in Mobile until, at the age of 35, he heard an undeniable call from the Lord to serve overseas as a missionary. He, Charlotte and their three children had the incredible honor of living first in Bangladesh and then in Pakistan, serving with the Presbyterian Church, Mission to the World and Interserve. Part of his heart will always remain in those beautiful countries and with the exquisite people he lived alongside in Southeast Asia.
A wake will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4 PM- 6 PM. The funeral service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning at 11 AM, followed by a graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in honoring and celebrating Cary’s incredible life. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
