Catherine "Cathie" Myers

Catherine "Cathie" (McLaughlin) Myers , 76, passed to her eternal life on August 3, 2023 in Mobile, AL. Cathie was born on September 15, 1946 in Sarasota, FL to Norma and Edward (Mac) McLaughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother William McLaughlin (Marcia) and their children Elizabeth, David and Emily, son Nathan (Amanda) and daughters Rebecca (Damon), Deborah (William) and Suzanne. Cathie had 8 grandchildren Morgan, Alexis, Matthew, Keighley, Lindsey, Dylan, Emily and Reese.

Cathie grew up travelling the world as the daughter of a decorated fighter pilot in the USAF. She took immense pride in her background of living in and learning so many cultures and their languages. Incorporating her incredible facility for language, love of music and a desire to sing, she pursued a career as a professional opera singer. Cathie would still a room as her voice carried full of passion and depth. She became involved in many church choirs opening the door for her to ultimately find a home in the church as a leader. She attended Virginia Theological Seminary and became an ordained minister in 1999 through the Old Catholic Church of Utrecht in New Orleans and felt her heart had settled. She went on to touch many ministries in sharing her love of and devotion to God. In her home, she loved to bake, cook and feed any and all that entered. She loved to read and spent many afternoons curled up with her dogs, whom she loved dearly, reading her latest find. She will be missed but is at peace with the Lord. A memorial service will be announced in the spring, her favorite time of year. In her memory, donations can be made to the Friends of the Mobile Animal Shelter or the Alaskan Wildlife Fund.
