Cathy Cassidey Mason

Cathy Cassidey Mason – a 60 year-old native of Fort Sill, OK and a longtime resident of Mobile passed away Monday, September 5, 2011. Mrs. Mason was a 1969 graduate of Murphy High School, attended Samford University, and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama. She retired from teaching after many years of service at Cottage Hill Baptist School, and was currently working at The Martin Center. Mrs. Mason attended Mobile Christian Center and loved traveling, gardening, and, above all else, spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ellen Cassidey. Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jim Mason; daughters, Mindi Welford (Joel) and Erin Rhone (Ethan); sister, Diane Hobbs (Tim); grandchildren, Wyatt Welford, Katherine Welford, Bennett Rhone, and Mason Rhone; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens, in lieu of flowers, the family re quests that donations be made to Odyssey Hospice for Camp Odyssey.
