
Charles Glenn Chestnut, 81 years of age, passed away March 10, 2011 in Providence Hospital. He was born May 29, 1929 and grew up in Phenix City, Alabama. Glenn married Betty Jean Andrews December 24, 1949 in Phenix City. They were married by her father, Emory T. Andrews. Glenn served in the airforce and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge they moved to Dothan, Alabama where he became Vice President of an Insurance company. In 1968 Glenn and Betty moved to Mobile, Alabama and became distributors of Tupperware Home Parties. After 16 years he retired at the age of 55 to travel and enjoy family. He was a member of Mobile First Assembly of God for 30 years where he served as a Deacon and Choir Director. Glenn loved the Lord Jesus Christ and is presently a member of Luke 4:18 Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Roy Chestnut; his mother, Mattie Herring Chestnut; and brother, William Rudolph Chestnut.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Betty Andrews Chestnut; his son, Steven Andrews Chestnut; his grandchildren, Michelle Chestnut (William Raymond) Wilson, Paula Marie (Carl Ulysses) Johnson, Jennifer Renee (Patrick James) Ward, Stevanie Chestnut (Jefferson Allan) King, Steven Andrews Chestnut Jr. and nine great grandchildren. Also his sister, Jonnie Chestnut Salmi; and sister-in-laws, Marilyn Andrews Trowbridge and Glenda Andrews (Victor Earl) Lyerla.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13th, at Mobile Memorial Gardens from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at City Church on Michael Boulevard (formerly Mobile First Assembly of God) on Monday, March 14th, at 2:00 PM. Pastor Fred Wolfe will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
