
Charles Ray Daving – a 92 year-old native of Columbus, OH and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012. After graduating from Capital University with a degree in Chemistry, Mr. Daving went to work for Hooker Chemical Co., later known as Occidental Petroleum, retiring after more than 40 years as a sales representative. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Mr. Daving enjoyed fly fishing, fishing the Mobile River Delta on his boat “Calls,” building model ships, working in his yard, traveling across North America, and a good dry martini. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his Christmas cookies. Mr. Daving was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, May Morley Daving. He is survived by his children, Charles E. (Judy) Daving and Dawn (David) Richards; grandchildren, Kyle Daving, Kara Daving, Dr. Logan (Amanda) Richards, and Gwendolynn (Brad) Dennis; sister, Margaret Johnson; nephew, Mark (Pam) Johnson; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, November 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 11, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
