

Cherry Kivette Purvis, a long time resident of Mobile , Alabama , passed away on Wednesday April 11, 2012 after a brave and courageous fight against cancer. She was 60 years old. Mrs. Purvis was born in Battle Creek , Michigan on September 28, 1951. She graduated from Shaw High School in 1969 and attended The University of South Alabama where she received a B.S. in Physical Therapy. She married Royce Woodrow Purvis on November 26, 1969. Mrs. Purvis is preceded in death by her beloved mother Vivian Cherry Kivette, of whose maiden name she is named for, her maternal grandparents Jessie Roy and Maude Cherry, her paternal grandmother Kindness Jetton and her brother Michael Kivette. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 42 years, Royce Woodrow Purvis, daughters Ronda Purvis Patrick and Jessica Michelle Purvis. She is also survived by her two grandchildren who were the joys of her life, Vivian Meryl Patrick and Wilson Martin Patrick and many other loving family members. Mrs. Purvis was dedicated to the physical therapy profession for over 30 years. She was a dear friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver to many. She was truly loved by so many and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral home on Dauphin Street Friday April 13, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 with a chapel service following. Graveside service for the family will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery West. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mrs. Purvis’ honor to the Mitchell Cancer Institute.
