Dan was a practicing ophthalmologist in Mobile for 40 years. As a student he was an Eagle Scout and drove a bus for tourists in Yellowstone National Park. He loved motorcycles, cars, fishing, astronomy, music, and traveling. He served in Korea as a physician and U.S. Army Captain. He often attended Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Mobile and made many friends there.
Dan was born February 13, 1935 in Opelika, Alabama and graduated from the University of Alabama and Tulane University School of Medicine. He is preceded by his first wife and mother of his children, Lynne Chapman Rencher, and his parents Daniel M. Rencher, Jr. and Margaret Martin Rencher. He is survived by his sister Rosamond Rencher Parrish, three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Mitchell Rencher, IV, Dawn Archer Rencher, Jeffrey Chapman Rencher, Michelle McDermott Rencher, Benjamin Lewis Rencher and Thais Richardson Rencher, and five grandchildren, Margaret Alma Rencher, Mary Lois Rencher, Benjamin Lewis Rencher, Jr., Natalie Lynne Rencher, and Kamila Michalena Rencher. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
