Danny J. Collier, Sr., of Mobile, Alabama, born on September 8, 1943, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Providence Hospital surrounded by family. Since January 13, 1972, Danny lived his life in the hope of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Danny spent his final years looking forward to seeing high school sweetheart and beloved wife of ~60 years, Mary Wilkinson Collier, in the presence of the Lord. It is not by accident that some of the earliest memories of his children come from the King James Version of John chapter 14:
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."
“In my Father's house are many mansions…"
“I go to prepare a place for you…"
“I am the way, the truth, and the life...”
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, James Benjamin Collier and Wanda Morris Collier, and his brother, James Benjamin Collier, Jr. (Tonya). He is survived by his children Judy (Brian) Bailey, Jody (Tim) Metzger, and Danny (Lesley) Collier, along with eight grandchildren—Brian (Holly) Bailey, Brooke (Grant) Stone, Chris (Morgan) Metzger, Jordan (Kyle) Goldstein, Cameron (Darion) Metzger, Daniel Collier, Joseph Collier, and Morgan (Austin) Elliot—and ten great-grandchildren: Weston, June, Lizzy, Bailynn, Henry, Katherine, Skip, Ben, Mary, and Sonny.
Danny lived a full and contented life. He loved fishing, duck hunting, boating, guns, and shooting pool. For more than fifty years, he worked faithfully and diligently for two Mobile companies—Moore-Handley, Inc., and Gulf Coast Marine Supply Company—earning the deep respect of colleagues and customers alike. Everyone who knew Danny loved him. Humble, hardworking, and always gracious, he leaves a beautiful legacy of faith and family.
Danny will be laid to rest next to Mary at Pine Crest Cemetery, just across Dauphin Island Parkway from his boyhood home, and in the shadow of Fulton Road Baptist Church where their young family got started. Danny was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church when he died.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.pinecrestfuneralhome.com.
