

David Lee Mayrose – age 76, born in Terre Haute, IN, former resident of Muskegon, MI, and longtime resident of Mobile, passed away April 1, 2011. Mr. Mayrose graduated from Muskegon High School in 1952. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University in Angola, IN in 1957. Mr. Mayrose began his career at Teledyne-Continental Motors in 1958. During his career, he served as the senior project engineer in the development of the engine for the Voyager aircraft, which is now on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. After retiring in 1998, he worked as a private consultant. Mr. Mayrose was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he was a former member of the Vestry. He was preceded in death by his parents, William O. Mayrose and Goldie L. Mayrose, and brothers, Robert W. Mayrose and John P. Mayrose. Mr. Mayrose is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melba Louise Mayrose; children, Craig Allan Mayrose (Elizabeth) and Laurel Anne Mayrose Bauer (John); three grandchildren, Henry David Bauer, Madeleine Louise Mayrose, and William Craig Mayrose; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mobile Infirmary, Cogburn Health and Rehabilitation-Midtown, and Infirmary Hospice Care. Memorial services will be held from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church parish hall from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
