Diane Zarocostas Chavers – born May 27, 1933 and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 in a local hospice facility. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Livears “Bill” Chavers. Diane was a long-standing member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and participated in many events and activities through her church community. Diane was also a lifetime member of the Daughters of Penelope.
She is survived by cousin, Nick T. Catranis of Mobile, AL; nieces and nephews, Dr. Theodore (Connie) Catranis, George (Anna) Catranis, Tina (Morgan) McAfoos, and Kristen (Michael) Baker; cousin, Georgia Lee Dunagan; and God children, Steven Vrettos, Nicholas Luther and Ulises B. Chavez.
Funeral services will be held Saturday,1/9/21 with a viewing at 10:30am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Due to COVID restrictions, only family and friends will gather for the funeral. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will livestream the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Blue Dome Foundation, 2033 D Airport Blvd, Mobile AL, 36606 or to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
