Mother Dorothy Enlers, a Proverbs 31 woman, born in Butler, Alabama March 20, 1937, to the late Cornelius and Irene Jackson. On January 2, 2023, God being so sovereign he saw it befitting to call Mother Dorothy Enlers from labor to reward. She attended Choctaw County Training School, after graduating she moved to Mobile, Alabama to pursue her college education and find a job. However, God had a different plan for her life.
She met her late husband, Bishop Clifton Enlers, September 28, 1956, and they began their family and ministry. The two became inseparable when the Lord placed his calling on their lives, Bishop Enlers became an anointed shepherd and Mother Enlers to serve as his anointed “help meet.” Mother Enlers changed the meaning of the saying “Behind every good man is a good woman” to “Beside every good man is a good woman”, because Bishop Enlers did not do anything without her. Mother Enlers travel endlessly with Bishop Enlers from ministry to ministry, from AOH Church to St. John AOH Church and St. John’s Cathedral on 810 Wilson Ave. in Prichard, AL until retired.
Mother, as she was affectionately called by everyone who knew her well. She put God and the church first in everything she did. While she was deeply committed to her children, they always knew their place in her devotion to God. She loved her children and wanted them to be saved, possess Godly character, but most of all she wanted them to serve and not be served.
Mother Dorothy Enlers was in a class all by herself. She was the epitome of holiness, beauty, elegance, and grace. She always represented her late husband, Bishop Clifton Enlers with excellence, dignity, and pride. Most of all a faithful servant of the highest God. Mother Enlers enjoyed building sermons, writing music, teaching Sunday school, and loving on her grands and great grands.
Mother Dorothy Enlers is preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Clifton Enlers, parents, Cornelius Jackson and Irene Woodard Jackson, siblings, Clarence Jackson, Faith Jackson, Frank Jackson, and Julia Mae Dickerson.
The memories and legacy of Mother Dorothy Enlers will always be cherished by her two sons, Rev. Clifton C. (Miriam) Enlers, Mr. Oswin Jeffery (Debra) Enlers, two loving daughters, Andrea E. (Jeremiah) Johnson, Rosemary(Jerry) Johnson, one adopted son, Willie Harris, sisters, Juanita Larkin and Minnie Miller, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two devoted nieces, Ms.Jackkie Burrell, a devoted nephew, Michael Donaldson, devoted daughter in law,Ms. Nina Enlers, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606, followed by a funeral service at 11:45 AM.
Dorothy will be laid to rest in Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
