Dorothy Wylene Clark Jumper died at home on January 8, 2013. She was born in Rose Hill, Alabama, on March 3, 1923, and had lived in Mobile for many years. A 1943 graduate of the University of Alabama, she retired from the University of South Alabama where she taught public speaking in the Department of Communication. She will be remembered for her wit and humor, for her love of music and art and literature, for her beautiful flowers, and for her tenderness toward all living things. She is survived by her daughters, Rosalind Rountree, Caroline Jumper, and Julie Jumper. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Reeves Dill, to the staff of Alacare Home Hospice, and to Ernestine McKinnis and Geneva Donaldson. Friends are invited to an informal gathering in her honor on Sunday, January 20, from 2 to 5 in the afternoon at her house at 5354 Timberline Ridge, Mobile. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to animal rescue organization SouthBARK, P.O. Box 194, Loxley, AL 36551, or the Azalea City Cat Coalition, P.O. Box 1612, Mobile, AL 36633. Messages to the family may be left at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
