Dorothy Rita Morel Netherton, age 93, of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Dorothy was born September 28, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Mildred Morel and Jules Morel. She retired after teaching 8 years in Catholic School System and 23 years with Mobile County School Board. She served as a volunteer at Providence Hospital and a member of many Mobile organizations.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David Netherton; daughter, Nancy Sargent; daughter & son-in-law, Beth Nelson (Braxton); grandchildren, Mead Sargent, Paige Sargent, Kristin Mullins (Roger), Benjamin Nelson, and Katey Nelson; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews; and 1 niece.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Jules Morel; mother, Mildred Morel; sister, Mildred Carvejal; and a close friend, Sandra Rhodes.
A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Dorothy's Home, 8360 Barrington Woods Ct E, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association; Volunteers at Providence Hospital; or to a charity of your choice.
