Earl Arthur Burns of Euharlee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. He was born to Nickolas and Helena Burns on June 27, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. Earl served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was the first Post Commander for the American Legion Post 45 in LaPine, Oregon. He was a truck driver, and could drive anything with wheels - tow truck, log truck, semi-tractor, flat bed, moving van, cement truck – the list goes on and on! Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing when he lived in California and Oregon.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Burns; parents; and older sister, Jeannette Hemp.
Left to cherish his memories are his three daughters, Michelle (Richard) Wardell, Marla (David) Steltenpohl, and Karen (Mel) Spencer; five grandchildren, Heather Stantz, Aaron Boothe, Amber (Brad) Coker, Hayden (Becka) Steltenpohl, and Haley (Denis) Diaz; five great-grandchildren, Leah Stantz, Cayley Stantz, Gavin Stantz, Bryson Coker, and Greer Steltenpohl; one great-great granddaughter, Enna Rees; sister, Carol Ghianni; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama, with a graveside service immediately following in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Earl’s name to American Legion Post 45, 52532 Drafter Road, LaPine, OR 97739.
