

Mr. Dixon was born September 20, 1932, in Lucedale, Mississippi, to David Caphus and Rose Dixon.
He was a very hard worker, a man of highest integrity who was respected by all, and took his work seriously. He was a member of Iron Workers Union Local No. 798 and received recognition and a pin for 65 years membership in 2024.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Dyess (Johnny); grandchildren, Christie Dyess Caylor (Terry), Russell Dyess; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Page, Jacob Page and Sloane Dyess; and great-granddaughter, Tacey Bennett; sister-in-laws, Joan Tipton (Tommy) and Annette Byrd; brother-in-law John Darrell Bang (Linda); nieces, nephews and cousins; and his “Bonus” family, Debbie Fulford, Scott Scheffield (Pam), Lena McMichael and Brody Livingston. Earl and Edna especially enjoyed getting together with the Sam Willey family on Friday nights to fellowship together.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Edna Bang Dixon; his parents, David Caphus and Rose Dixon; sister, Edna Mizelle and husband, Leonard; brother, Edmund Dixon and wife, Charlene; brother, Joe Dixon and wife, Emily; brother, J.D. Dixon and wife, Martha; brother-in-law, Alton Bang and wife, Patricia; and brother-in-law, R. D. Byrd.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions of love and sympathy, and Southern Hospice for the compassionate care and service to our family, especially Renee, Amberley, and Mrs. Pat.
A visitation for Earl will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pine Crest Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service from 11:00. Entombment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
