Eleanor Creel Stevens entered into her Eternal Rest on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the age of 92. Eleanor was born in Franklinton, Louisiana and moved to Buras, Louisiana where the family lived for many years. From there she and George “G.W.” moved to Galliano, Louisiana and she worked at “The Center” in Galliano. She enjoyed working as an accountant there with the children. They then moved back to Franklinton from there to Sevierville, Tennessee and after the passing of her husband, George “G.W.”, she moved to Mobile, Alabama. As a member of Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, she looked forward to her Sunday School and Services. She was a member of their sewing group the “Threads of Love”, where she enjoyed sewing little baby blankets and dresses for premature and sick babies.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, George “G.W.” William Stevens; her parents, Arlie Creel and Veda Walters Creel.; her brother, Billy Creel and her grandson, Scott C. Stevens.
Eleanor is survived by her brother, Kenneth Creel of Saucier, Mississippi; her sons, George R. Stevens (June) of Franklinton, Louisiana and Philip W. Stevens (Hope) of Mobile, Alabama; grandson, Travis P. Stevens (DeAnna); great granddaughter, Alexandra B. Stevens; great grandson, Nicholas T. Stevens (Ashley) and a great great grandson, Elijah T. Stevens all of Mobile, Alabama.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to Covenant Care at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama for the gentle car and compassion they provided in her final week of life.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Woodbridge Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
