A longtime resident of Mobile, Mrs. Mosely is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Mosely; her parents, John R. White and Lillian English White; two brothers, John and Edward R. White; and her sister, Evelyn White Leiker. Mrs. Mosely is survived by her son, Mark Mosely (Marie); her daughter, Jan Holland (Lee); her niece, Lisa Leiker Pruitt (John); her nephew, John White (Sarah); grandchildren, Brett (Miles) Cameron, Charles Mosely, Jacob Holland, Meg (Sean) Salmon, and Erin Mosely; great-grandson, Grey Cameron; great-niece, Blair (Phillips) Crabtree and sons, Jack and Sam; great-nephews, Trip Pruitt and Andrew Pruitt; and great-niece, Caroline Pruitt. Mrs. Mosely led an interesting and extraordinary life. She moved with her sister and mother to Mobile, in 1942 where she met her husband, “Charlie,” the love of her life, and they married in 1945. She graduated from the University of Alabama and taught in the Mobile County Public School system from 1960-1982. She is most remembered for her years as a Second Grade teacher at Kate Shepard (1962-67) and the consummate English teacher of Davidson High School, 1967-1982. She was a member of ADK, Professional Educators’ Sorority throughout these years. Mrs. Mosely not only influenced greatly the lives of hundreds of students, but her no-nonsense approach to life, tempered by a loving, caring nature for individual’s lives were traits that followed her even after she retired. She enjoyed immensely the company of all ages, always striving to better herself in her lifelong quest of learning. She was very involved with the Cottage Hill Baptist Church’s Senior Adult Ministry, including being a member of their “Senior Singers” group. Her love of God, and unfailing belief of Jesus Christ as God’s Son, saw her through many circumstances. Mrs. Mosely, known as Elizabeth, Liz, Mom, Mama, Mema, Grandmother, and Do-um, was in effect the “Moral Compass” of her family, and although they know without a doubt that she is already spending eternity in the Home of the Father, she will be greatly, greatly missed.
