

Mr. Ellis Vincent Ollinger, Jr., a native and resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Born February 2, 1933 to Ellis Vincent Ollinger, Sr. and Genevieve (Steiner) Ollinger. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Regina Sullivan Ollinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister – Zoe Ollinger Dacovich and brother – Harry William Ollinger, Sr. He is also survived by his seven children; Shannon Blake (Jon), Maureen Lowe (Mike), Jennifer Medeiros (Steven), Ellis Ollinger III (Trin), Zoe Ollinger-Salome, Mary Robinson (Tommy) and James Ollinger. He had 20 grandchildren: David, Erin and William Blake; Patrick, Faith Ann, Caroline and John Lowe; Ryan, Bradee and Lauren Aiyer and Jonah Medeiros; Margaret, Mary Ellis and Millie Ollinger; Sophie, Andy and Alex Salome; and Grayson, Jack and Molly Ellis Robinson. Ellis was a 1951 graduate of McGill Institute. He attended Springhill College and graduated from The University of Alabama with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He then served in the Alabama State Defense Force and attained the rank of Brigadier General. His many activities included: Member of Knights of Columbus’ Council 666, Past Grand Knight and Member of Board of Trustees; Past Faithful Navigator of 4th Degree, Assembly 001, Knights of Columbus; Member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; Past President of Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, Grand Marshall and Past President of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Past President of a Mardi Gras Society, Chairman of the Dauphin Island Race for three years, Lifetime Member of Mobile Yacht Club. The wake will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23rd from 5-8pm with the rosary beginning at 7pm. The funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Monday, October 24th at 10am.
