Frances Courtney Pitman Inge, born August 4, 1958, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at her residence. A graduate of Marion Military Institute in Marian, Alabama, she attended Judson College and the University of Southern Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Frances was employed with The Holiday, Inc. for over thirty-five years as a sales representative and retired in 2015. She was a member of several mystic societies and was most comfortable dressed in a sequined satin costume and mask, perched on top of a Mardi Gras float, baton in one hand, dancing. She cherished her memories of spending summers at Point Clear with her “Dede” and her Courtney cousins, Joe, Genie, Mary, Frank, and Jim. Later, Frances loved spending time and entertaining friends at the Inge family home on Magnolia River with her husband. Her greatest joy in life was being grandmother to Tunstall, III, and Louise. Frances is preceded in death by her mother, Amelie Courtney Pitman. She is survived by a large extended family of Courtneys, Pitmans, Slatons, and Inges, including her father, Dr. John A. Pitman; her brothers, Norman D. Pitman, III (Belinda), and John A. “Skipper” Pitman, Jr. (Katherine); her sister, Gwynn Arnold Pitman; her husband and best friend of forty-four years, James Tunstall Inge, Sr.; her son, James Tunstall Inge, Jr., and his wife, Catherine; her daughter, Amelie Courtney Inge; and her grandchildren, James Tunstall Inge, III, and Louise Lott Inge. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mittie Benion Caregivers Service for wonderful care and compassion over the last ten years. The friendship between Frances and Mittie was undeniable.
