

Frances Long Phillips – a lifelong resident of Mobile and Daphne passed away peacefully at the age of 91 with her family at her side, at Montrose Bay Nursing Home after a long illness with Parkinson’s disease. She is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore Renaldo “Sam” Long and Rosie Callus Long; her husband Fred Eugene Phillips; her sister Josephine Blake and her brother Jerome Renaldo “Romie” Long. She retired after working at Gayfer’s Department Store for 30 years, in Ladies Better Sportswear, working at the downtown store and then at Springdale Mall. She did volunteer work for the Sisters of Mercy at St. Mary’s Catholic School and took care of anyone in need. Frances would do anything for others and give anything she could to anyone in need. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Arcement; son-in-law, Dr. Larry Joseph Arcement; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Michael Arcement (Amy Glick) of New Orleans, LA, Dr. Brian Kendrick Arcement of Fort Myers, FL, and Ashley Marie Arcement of New York City; three great-grandchildren, Bethany Hope Arcement, Jake Ryan Arcement, and Brook Parker Arcement; her sister-in-law, Blanche Long; her nephew, Jerry Long; and her niece, Brenda Ann Long. We wish to thank Mrs. Phillips CNA’s, particularly Mary Dixon, Tawanah Hunt, Shirley Mickles, Louise Smiley, Myra Banks, and Jean Giles for the love and devotion they gave her. We also thank her nurses, particularly Jacob Fields, Neil Hall, Laketa Thornton, and Tanya Lawley, and speech therapist, Mary Elizabeth Wells, for their excellent care, love and kindness to Frances. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, with the Rosary at 6 P.M. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. “Bootsie”, as she was affectionately called by her daddy, Sam, will be laid to rest next to her beloved family. We will never forget the gentleness of her touch and the love she shared. We will honor her every day in how we live. We hold the gift of her legacy, her faith in God and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
