Frank Clifford Phillips Sr.

Mr. Frank Clifford Phillips, Sr., age 91, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 8, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford S. and Edith Wilkins Phillips, wife, Jean L. Phillips and sister, Barbara P. Zeuner. Mr. Phillips served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during World War II. He worked for many years at Brookley Field for the United States Government and retired from the State of Alabama at the State Employment Office. Mr. Phillips will be most remembered as a talented musician in the Mobile community. He was a pianist with many local bands, to include the Sammy Zibbits Band, Bob Schultz Band, Sentimentals and most recently the Memories for You Band. He performed for many Mardi Gras balls throughout the years and was awarded a plaque in his name in the Mobile Mardi Gras Museum. Mr. Phillips was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon, elder and singing in the choir. He was a model railroad enthusiast starting at an early age until his passing. Mr. Phillips is survived by his children; Frank C. Phillips, Jr. (Judith), Jackie Schrader (Rex, deceased), Donald Breter (Patricia), Rory MacDonald (Lynn), James MacDonald (Karen) and Rebecca MacDonald. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren; nieces, Edith Hayes, Suzanne Goffacher and Catherine C. Barnard. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church with interment in Pine Crest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jeff Phillips, Joseph Bullock, Josiah MacDonald, Jesse Dueitt, Brandon Dueitt, and Miles Phillips.
