Franklin Samuel Smith Jr.

Mr. Franklin Samuel Smith, Jr., age 79, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Samuel and Bernice McKenney Smith, Sr.. Mr. Smith served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after many years of service with Trailways Bus Lines as a bus driver. He was a former member of River Church in Mobile. Mr. Smith will be remembered by his family as a loving and giving man. He was a gracious host, never closing a door to friends or strangers. He enjoyed preparing “Smoked Turkey” for neighbors and family during the Thanksgiving holiday. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sherrol Halbrook Smith. He is also survived by his children; Merril Thompson (Grace), Suzette Masters, Teresa Duck (Butch), Phillip Thompson (Lisa), Lynne Dean (Rowland), Danny McKnight (Debbie) brother, Judson Smith (Diane), eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery.
