MIDGETTE
Mrs. Freda Thompson Midgette - Born September 24, 1923 - While Freda
was born in Nashville, Tennessee; she moved to Mobile, Alabama at an
early age and became a lifelong resident. Mrs. Midgette died Sunday
morning, January 16, 2011 in a local hospital. Freda retired from
Gayfers and then volunteered at Providence Hospital for many years. She
was a dedicated Grandmother with an active interest in her
grandchildren's sports and activities. Freda was known for her ability
to endure the travels of life with a smile on her face. She resided at
Gordon Oaks Assisted Living, where she enjoyed playing bingo and
dominoes (except during football season). She was a member of St.
Dominic's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her son Mark, her parents, two sisters
and her loving husband of 63 years. She is survived by one brother,
A.C. (& Lee) Thompson, Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Maureen (&
Morris) Tillman, Mobile, Alabama; Claudia (& Ron) Caton, Mobile Alabama;
one son, Michael (& Hettie) Midgette, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; one
granddaughter, Kendra (& Charlie) Jackson, Jasper Alabama; three
grandsons, Keith (& Adriene) Caton, Bowling Green, Kentucky; Reggie (&
Lisa) Godwin, Mobile, Alabama; David Godwin, Atlanta, Georgia; and seven
great grandchildren; Cameron, Madison, Kade, Karliegh, Weslie, Audrey
and Kole.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at St. Dominick's Catholic Church at
10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services and mass at 11:00 a.m.
