Geneva Emma Malone Pope

Geneva Emma Malone Pope - a 98 year-old native of Carthage, MS and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013. Mrs. Pope was an employee of Gayfer's Department Store for many years. She was a longtime member of Sage Avenue Baptist Church, and was a current member of Fulton Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Pope, and daughters, Peggy Herman and Nancy Wood. She is survived by two siblings, Otto Malone and Hettie Lutts (James Arden); six grandchildren, Mike Wood (Deonne), Tracey Parrott (Donald), Cindy Baker (Jay), Julie Secchiari (Tony), Jason Herman, and Crystal Herman; many great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends; and Mrs. Pope's special friend and caregiver, May Merren.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 18, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
