George "Chip" Clifford Hairston III

George C. Hairston, III “Chip”, 85, entered into rest Friday, August 7, 2015 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Oakleigh Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hairston was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile and a graduate of Murphy High School and Auburn University class of 1956. He was a United States Army veteran and an avid golfer with the Mobile and Southern Seniors. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Clifford and Ethel Hewett Hairston, Jr. and his sister, Cora Lee Masse.

He is survived by his wife of 59 and a half years, Carolyn Hairston, two children, Chip (Charlotte Marie) Hairston, IV, of Mobile and Lee Ann (Mark) Cooper of Colchester, CT, six grandchildren, Nancy Kaitlin Hairston, Chelsea Lee Hairston, Autumn Marie Hairston, William George Cooper, Courtney Lee Cooper, and Thomas Grant Cooper, five great-grandchildren, a first cousin, Lou Zarko, and numerous nieces, nephews, and family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nursing staff of Providence Hospital, 12th floor, for their love and compassion.
