

George L. Herrin, Sr., a native of Mobile, AL died 01/10/2018. He was a graduate of Murphy High School and attended Spring Hill College and Auburn University. He was a honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1958 after serving 4 years as an air traffic controller and shift supervisor. He then returned to Auburn University to continue his education and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1960. Following his graduation he pursued a career with International Paper Co., where he worked as a project engineer, instrumentation engineer, and process computer control engineer and supervisor. He retired from International Paper in 1992 after 32 years of service. He and his second wife, Ruth Kulling Herrin of Bremerhaven, Germany enjoyed their years of retirement fishing, travelling, and just having fun until Ruth’s death in December 2008. He is survived by his ex-wife Jo Ann Herrin, 2 sons, George L. Herrin, Jr., and James L. Herrin, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandaughters, 2 great-grandsons, and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be held at the Radney Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Magnolia Cemetery on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
